Every card payment in Escape — invoices, deposits, membership subscriptions — runs through Stripe, one of the largest payment processors in the world (it moves money for Amazon, Ford, and millions of small businesses).
Here's the part that matters: the Stripe account is yours. Your customers' payments go into your Stripe account and pay out to your business bank account on Stripe's schedule. Escape connects to it, but never holds your money.
A Stripe account is required to use Escape's payment features — so let's get you set up.
If you don't have a Stripe account yet
Create one before your onboarding call — it's free and takes about ten minutes at stripe.com. Have these ready:
- Your legal business name and address
- Your EIN (or SSN for sole proprietors)
- Your business bank account and routing numbers (where payouts land)
- The owner's legal name and date of birth (Stripe verifies identity — it's a bank-level service)
If you already have Stripe
Even easier — nothing to create. Just make sure the person who owns the Stripe login is on your onboarding call.
Connecting it to Escape
You don't connect it yourself — the Escape team links your Stripe account during onboarding as part of the build. We'll do it live on a call with your Stripe login owner present, and it takes a few minutes. From then on, every invoice, deposit request, and membership payment flows straight to your account.
Good to know
- Payouts: Stripe deposits to your bank on a rolling schedule (typically two business days after a payment). You can watch every payout in your Stripe dashboard.
- Fees: Stripe charges its standard card-processing fee per transaction (posted on their site). That's Stripe's fee, not Escape's — we don't take a cut of your payments.
- Refunds: owners can issue refunds right from Escape — see Invoices and taking payment.
